I’ll be honest. This is going to be a difficult season. We said goodbye to Quentin in the fourth season finale, and that exit certainly made some fans angry. But at the same time, it changes everything about the series. While there wasn’t really a real “main” character in this ensemble cast by the midway point of the first season, Q was our way into the world of The Magicians. He also brought some extremely important storylines, connecting to many fans who found a place with the worlds of Brakebills and Fillory.

Julia’s grief over Quentin’s death brought back her magic, and I did love the touch on the cards stopping being the way she (and we) found out. It was that bittersweet connection to Q that Julia needed at the time.

It looks like magic is back for everyone in The Magicians Season 5 based on the promo. There are also going to be some major quests for each of them along the way.
