It’s the beginning of the end. That’s the way the return of Supernatural is being billed. The series returns from its winter hiatus, and when we last left the show, Dean and Cas were headed to Purgatory while Sam and Eileen were lured into a trap by Chuck. So, things aren’t going well.

This episode sees the return of a number of favorites, including Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and AW Bobby (Jim Beaver). It’s great for Bobby to be in this season because it means he has been in all 15 seasons of Supernatural. If he doesn’t make another episode for the final part of the season, at least we got him for one more.

Since the brothers are separated, we have to see how they will navigate without each other for a bit. With Dean in purgatory, a place he spent a lot of time and made friends with Benny, it’s good he has Cas with him to ground him.

Purgatory could bring a lot of nasty flashbacks to Dean and he will need someone, especially since Sam isn’t there.

When it comes to Sam, it seems God will be showing him more about their unique connection because of the bullet wounds in their shoulders. Chuck realizes there is a connection, though I am not sure he knows how to get rid of it yet. It looks to be another fun ride as we head toward the end of Supernatural.
