Morgan Freeman has long been regarded as a Hollywood legend thanks to his iconic voice and demeanor, but which films does he shine the brightest in? Here are his 10 best performances!

Morgan Freeman is a name that is sure to conjure up feelings of joy and nostalgia for the young and old. To a younger audience, he’s the kindly-looking man with freckles that, if South Park is to be believed, represent the times he has had to explain a complicated situation with his instantly recognizable voice. A silly joke, yes, but it’s hard to argue with how often he seems to be cast in such a role.

But for an older audience, Morgan Freeman is more than a meme. He’s a respected, talented, and incredibly prolific actor who has starred in some of the best films of the past 30+ years, quick to impress with his restrained and meditative demeanor. Better yet, even films not considered “great” by critic and/or audience standards are prone to at least be elevated by a great Morgan Freeman performance, of which there are plenty.

Lately, his workload has considerably slowed, with the most notable projects being the Fallen series, but the years have seen some truly wonderful performances from a timeless actor with more versatility than his reputation implies. His break-out role was in Street Smart back in 1987 and since then, he has built a steady career in both leading and supporting roles, lending plenty of worthy choices for this top 10 list.

Therefore, it was pretty difficult to truly pin down Morgan Freeman’s 10 best performances in a career full of fantastic work, but I’ll highlight what I think serve as reminders of Freeman’s range. Some of these performances are well-known, while others may not be talked about as much today, but they’re all great examples of the man’s talent onscreen. So let’s stop wasting time and get to the list!
