The Bachelor and Manifest ticked up on Jan. 20. Meanwhile, Black Lightning and 9-1-1: Lone Star were down. Here’s a look at the Monday TV ratings.

It was a good night for many TV shows on Jan. 20, especially on ABC. Meanwhile, The CW and FOX saw some dips. However, none of them will be anything to worry about. Here’s a look at the Monday TV ratings.

Let’s start with the bad. The CW saw drops in both All American and Black Lightning. Both were midseason premieres, which is disappointing, but it’s worth remembering that the two shows have been renewed for the 2020-2021 season. This takes some of the pressure off.

FOX saw a 66% drop in the demo and 40% drop in the total audience on 9-1-1: Lone Star, but there is an extremely good reason for this. The series premiere aired the day before right after the Packers vs. 49ers playoff game. That was always going to be a good episode in terms of ratings.

The drop looks big, but the actual figures are strong. When the current average is compared to 9-1-1‘s average (parent show and held that timeslot in the fall), the spin-off is doing better. When this particular episode is compared against 9-1-1‘s average, the show isn’t too far behind. In fact, it remains the second-best drama on FOX with just the one episode looked at. We’ll have to see how the show stabilizes, but I think it’s getting a second season already.

Prodigal Son did drop with its midseason return, but it wasn’t all that big. The show remains average for FOX and a strong contender on Mondays in the timeslot, so I think it’s sticking around for a second season.

Meanwhile, CBS had a mixed night. The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola dropped in both demo and total audience. There’s probably nothing to worry about right now, but something for the shows to consider when it comes to promotion. All Rise and Bull were both up in the demos but down in the total audiences.

I think CBS is going to renew all its Monday shows at this rate. The one I’m most concerned about is Bull, but despite the 2% drop in the total audience, it won the timeslot in that metric.

Yes, it beat The Good Doctor‘s audience, despite that rising 5% from the midseason premiere last week. However, The Good Doctor‘s 20% rise in the demo saw it take over the time slot for the win.

In fact, ABC had a good night overall, with The Bachelor winning the night in the timeslot after seeing a 27% uptick. This franchise is going nowhere, so even a dip wouldn’t have been a concern, but the continued success is great for a show in its 24th season!

What won the audience for the night? America’s Got Talent: The Champions takes that honor. It’s 6% rise saw almost 7 million viewers tuning in. The Neighborhood on CBS wasn’t far behind with 6.77 million viewers (another reason I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with the series).

NBC also had a good night with Manifest. The third episode saw the first upward tick of the season, with a 5% rise in the audience and a 7% rise in the demo. We still need the show to stabilize to make sure it gets a third season, but things are looking more positive than the last two weeks.
