Lifetime’s The Neighbor in the Window: Jenn Lyon teases her sinister role
By Mads Lennon
Jenn Lyon, best known for her work on the dark comedy series, Claws, stars in the upcoming Lifetime thriller, The Neighbor in the Window.
Jenn Lyon is a talented actress you might recognize from the hit TNT series, Claws, where she stars as the character, Jennifer Husser. She has also appeared on series like Justified and Saint George. Next for the star is Lifetime’s Ripped from the Headlines thriller, Neighbor in the Window, based on the book False Victim by Kathie Truitt.
Lyon will star opposite Jamie-Lynn Sigler in the film. Sigler plays Karen, an outgoing woman who recently moved to Washington alongside her husband and young son. Once they arrive, Karen begins to bond with her charming neighbor Lisa (Lyon). Unfortunately for Karen, she slowly begins to realize that something isn’t quite right with Lisa, and a dangerous game begins to unravel between the two women.
We had the chance to chat with Jenn Lyon ahead of the film. She told us what it was like to work with Sigler and teased her sinister character.
Hidden Remote: What was it like working on a movie like this, that’s pretty tonally different from a dark comedy like Claws?
Jenn Lyon: It was fascinating and mentally athletic kind of. We shot the movie much faster, so I had to make choices and trust them and then on to the next thing, whereas we have months to shoot Claws, and it’s super collaborative, and we know these characters so well.

HR: Can you tell us about your character in the film? What drew you to the role?
JL: Lisa is, in fact, the neighbor in said window. Or, in her world, Karen (Sigler) is the neighbor in the window. Lisa could be your best friend if only you didn’t challenge her. What drew me to the role was getting to work with Jamie Lynn and the book the script was based on, False Victim by Kathie Truitt.
HR: What was it like working with Jamie-Lynn Sigler?
JL: Terrible. Just terrible. She is mean spirited, and she knocked one of my teeth out for accidentally touching her leg.
HR: Are you a fan of thrillers? Were you inspired by any other movies that are a little similar in tone to The Neighbor in the Window?
JL: I love thrillers! And I love Lifetime movies! I guess it’s most similar in tone to Single White Female or The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. The audience gets drawn into this relationship but knows that some sh*t is going to go down.
HR: Were you familiar with the book or the story the movie is based on before getting involved in the project?
JL: I wasn’t familiar with the book, but I ordered it right away, and it was a page-turner! I also got to meet Kathie, the author, on set, and she was so dear and helpful in answering my numerous questions.
HR: What do you think will surprise audiences about the film the most?
JL: Well, if I told you it wouldn’t be that surprising.
HR: Did you have a favorite scene to film?
JL: I liked filming anything with Jamie. I just like being with her in general. I had so many jogging scenes that I don’t think made the cut, but filming them made me laugh a lot. Jogging. I was like, did you mean to hire me?
HR: Have you ever had any strange neighbor encounters of your own?
JL: My now husband and I lived next to a crazy landlord once, and she had a backyard full of chairs — I mean full, stacked-up 8-feet high, all different — chairs and she wore a sun visor with hair already attached to it.
HR: Thank you so much to the fantastic and hilarious Jenn Lyon for chatting with us!
Don’t miss The Neighbor in the Window this weekend on Lifetime! The film premieres Saturday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
