We’ve got the music in us after the latest episode of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist! Let’s break down some of the best moments (Mo-ments, if you will, since Alex Newell’s Mo is in so many) from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 2.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 2 was just too good to watch without an encore. “Zoey’s Extraordinary Best Friend” kicked off with a huge opening song and dance number, featuring all sorts of dance styles and a massive collection of great voices, and maintained the same level of entertainment from start to finish.

While Zoey (Jane Levy) was trying to figure out how to live in the normal world now that she has anything but a normal talent, her ability to hear people’s deepest thoughts through private performances seemed like a nuisance at best—and a curse at worst. Enter Mo (Alex Newell), here to share some musical expertise and try to help Zoey get to the bottom of things.

Mo had so many great lines in this episode, there’s no way we could talk about the best parts of it without focusing on this character, who mixes just the right amount of support with a light side of sass. Without further ado, here are some of the best Mo-ments from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 2.

“I got bored about three on the other hands ago.” Yep. This line came courtesy of Mo, and it was exactly what we needed to lighten up the mood as Zoey was busy stressing out about all the ways her new powers were ruining her life. The music helped her bond with her crush; but on the other hand, he was already taken.

The programmers at work hated her…But on the other hand, Max (Skylar Astin) was probably in love with her. But on the other…We get it, Zoey. Life’s rough.

(Love you, though.)

Everything about the coffee shop scene was perfect, so it’s the next best Mo-ment from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 2. It all started with a beautifully heartbreaking rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” which highlighted just how much we don’t know about the loneliness of those around us. It ended with Zoey making the rash decision to set Autumn the barista up with Max.

In between? There was Mo, delivering all the quotables. For your consideration:

"“Unbelievable! All I see is a bunch of white people drinking mostly over-priced coffee while you get a whole show? What song is it?”“I think it’s Whitney Houston.”“You think?! This power is wasted on you!”"

We all need somebody to love, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist has given us Mo to fill that role.

Speaking of love: What’s not to love about Peter Gallagher singing “Moondance,” especially given everything it meant for his character? In spite of all its inconveniences, Zoey’s ability opened up a line of communication between herself and her otherwise trapped father. While the rest of the Clarke family was having difficulty communicating with Mitch through a yes/no buzzer setup, Zoey was able to hear her dad’s fantastic inner rendition of Van Morrison’s “Moondance” and get to the bottom of what he really wanted to tell her mom.

Research and a chat with Mo temporarily took things down an awkward path: Mo explained the song meant Mitch wanted to “get it on” with his wife. Later, though, Zoey was able to learn that “Moondance” was being performed live at a concert when Mitch first told Maggie he loved her. It turns out Mitch just wanted to be able to express that love again.

Since this part of the latest Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist episode risks seeming like it wasn’t a Mo-ment, we present you with these words of wisdom from when Mo first told Zoey the song was about her parents’ sex life:

"“With great power comes a whole lotta nasty stuff don’t nobody want to do.”"

This one’s 100% a Zo-ment: After her first real test as a leader at SPRQPOINT was a bit of a “talk of shame” disaster, Zoey connected with her team by reading her journal out loud. Zoey is a character with a lot of heart, and it took actually having the guts to expose that heart for her to finally show her team she not only trusted them but admired them, too.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist made viewers’ hearts melt with this one. It’s impossible not to love a leading lady who, after failing a little bit, just picks herself back up and finds a way to make things work by taking anything but the easy way out.

(Oh, and, side note? Where can we get those company sweats? Asking for a friend…)

And last but not least, that final Mo-ment in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 2. After spending most of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Best Friend” trying to find out how control when and how she heard people’s inner music, Zoey decided it was best to just wait and see what the world brought her.

This disappointed Mo, who had a plan to do some totally scientific trials involving things like karaoke, mimes, and sensory deprivation. But it was cool: Mo’s door was still always open if Zoey needed some assistance—just as long as there wasn’t a gentleman caller.

"So, if you hear Sade playing, I’d keep my distance. You…do know who Sade is, right?”"

Spoiler alert: Zoey had no clue, but she tried to fool Mo into thinking she did. (That went about as well as expected.)

It’s cool, though: Lack of any knowledge whatsoever about Sade or any other number of musicians aside, Mo is “kind of obsessed” with Zoey. And we can relate because we’re definitely obsessed with Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
