Duncanville debuted while Good Girls and American Idol premiered new seasons. Here’s a look at the Sunday TV ratings for Feb. 16.

Most of Sunday’s programming was back to normal on Feb. 16. It was also a night for new seasons, new series, and new nights for returning shows. It’s time to break down the Sunday TV ratings for the night.

FOX debuted its new animated comedy, Duncanville. Following on from The Simpsons, it should have been a good premiere. However, the ratings were on the low side. At 1.51 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating, they do sit at the level of Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy. However, those two shows are in the double digits for seasons, so they get away with lower numbers.

It wasn’t the most positive nights for debuts, though. Good Girls premiered Season 3 seeing a 45% drop in the demo and 27% drop in the total audience compared to the Season 2 premiere. They were also down from the Season 2 finale, which left us with some major questions.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for Good Girls. The show performs much better on Netflix and NBC knows that. This is a show with an international deal to head to Netflix, which could help to save the show for Season 4.

American Idol also premiered down from the previous season premiere and finale. However, this isn’t a bad thing considering the figures. At 8.05 million, it was just behind CBS’s 60 Minutes to take second place out of the night. The 1.5 demo rating was the best of the night.

What about other shows? Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist saw a drop in both demo and audience by a fairly large level. We’ll need to wait to see how the show stabilizes to determine if it will be renewed.

When it comes to the returning shows, there is some more bad news. Bob’s Burgers lost 70% of its demo and 73% of its total audience, losing traction from the Sunday Night Football run. Family Guy lost 13% of its demo and 12% of its total audience.

Over on CBS, God Friended Me and NCIS: Los Angeles suffered from the lack of football acting as lead-in. It also won’t help that 60 MInutes was down 60% in the demo and 20% of the total audience. I think the shows are safe, though. CBS will know a drop is coming with the end of the football season.

The most concerning drop is going to be NCIS: New Orleans. Airing on its new night, the series lost 41% of its demo and 26% of its total audience. This is going to be a chance that takes time to get used to. As long as the series stabilizes around this point, I think it’s safe for another year, but something to keep an eye on.
