Wednesday TV ratings: Criminal Minds ends on a high note
Criminal Minds came to an end after 15 years and ended on a high note for the season. Here’s a look at the Feb. 19 TV ratings.
We said goodbye to Criminal Minds after 15 years, and the TV ratings were certainly good in the end. Meanwhile, The Masked Singer was up and the Democratic Debate took the top spot for the viewers. Here’s a look at the Feb. 19 TV ratings.
While I say that I’m focusing only on the shows still on the bubble, it’s important to note the Criminal Minds series finale views. They ended on a high note, pulling in 5.45 million for the first episode (dropping by 0.10 million for the second episode) and an 0.8 demo rating. This was up 37% and 33% respectively from the previous episode and among the strongest figures for the entire season. In fact, they were some of the strongest figures for the last two seasons. It was a brilliant way to end such an iconic show.

CBS had a good night in the previous hour, too. Survivor was up by 7% in both the demo and total audience.
It was always going to be difficult for other shows to compete, especially with the Democratic Candidates Debate taking over from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Unsurprisingly, the debate pulled in the best viewership of the night, with 10.01 million people tuning in. The demo rating of 1.8 was the second best.
Take a guess at what that demo was behind. It was all about The Masked Singer, which saw both metrics up 5%. Fans were intrigued by the new group performing.
The positivity didn’t continue throughout the night, though, with LEGO Masters dropped another 16% in the demo and 11% in the total audience. Could this have been due to the Democratic Debate and Criminal Minds or is it a sign the show isn’t working? It’s hard to say right now, but something that could save the series is that the demo rating is still at 1.0 and was the highest of the timeslot outside of the political special.
ABC struggled during the night. While The Goldbergs and Schooled had good results and will likely be renewed, Single Parents fell in the total audience. Despite the steady 0.6 demo, I do think the sophomore comedy will be canceled this season.
Another show I think is going to be canceled is Stumptown, which dropped another 6.5% in the audience. The steady 0.4 demo is also on the low side—the lowest of the night outside of The CW.
