Watch Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 3 live online
Did you originally tune in to Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist because you’re a fan of Gilmore Girls‘ Lauren Graham? Good news: The series’ third episode is for you!
So far, Zoey’s boss, Joan (Lauren Graham), hasn’t played a huge part in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. She’s had a few good lines here and there and showed up during some of the big group musical numbers, but viewers haven’t exactly had a chance to learn very much about her.
That is really going to change in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 3, “Zoey’s Extraordinary Boss.” Without spoiling too much, let’s just say the episode will get to the bottom of what’s most dissatisfying in Joan’s life while providing some more-than-satisfying singing and dancing from Graham herself.
If hearing that Lauren Graham gets to take the spotlight this week has you tuning in to Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for the first time, there’s no reason to worry about being lost. You can catch up on the first two episodes on the series’ YouTube channel for free! Or, if you’re short on time, check out our advance review of the series and/or our favorite “Mo-ments” from the second episode.
There’s a lot more to expect from “Zoey’s Extraordinary Boss.” Take, for example, an appearance by Justin Kirk (Weeds), who plays Charlie Bennett—someone the SPRQ POINT “brogrammers” worship as only nerdy fanboys can. You might even say he’s the “Jesus Christ Superstar” of technology.
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1, Episode 3 will also continue the story that’s the real heart of the show: the Zoey and her family’s ongoing attempts to have a way to communicate with her sick dad, Mitch (Peter Gallagher). As one might expect, that particularly road is never anything but bumpy. So, bring your tissues and your favorite beverage.
Looking for just a little bit more information before diving in? Here’s the episode synopsis, courtesy of the NBCUniversal MediaVillage:
"Zoey must decide whether or not to get involved in her boss’s Joan’s troubled marriage after she hears Joan sing a “heart song.” Zoey creates a new program for the family to communicate with Mitch, but when his first word is not what they expected, Maggie reaches a breaking point."
If you’re worried about that “breaking point” for Maggie (Mary Steenburgen), we can confirm: It’s equal parts crushing and hilarious. So, basically, it’s right in line with everything we love about Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
