We know there’s an opioid crisis in the real world. It’s natural for medical dramas to bring in real events to the story to help raise awareness, which is exactly what New Amsterdam Season 2, Episode 15 is going to do. Make sure you don’t miss a beat of the episode live.

Let’s just look at the details of the episode so far based on the promo and synopsis. The focus is on the growing opioid crisis. Part of it comes from the decision to prescribe opioids for pain. Doctors and pharmacists try to offer warnings but there’s only so much that they can do apart from just not prescribe them at all. I remember when I was prescribed some, I was urged to try standard Tylenol first.

So, Max needs to figure out a way to deal with the crisis around the hospital. It means some radical changes. When does it not? This is New Amsterdam Hospital after all. Max has always taken radical steps to help.

What will he do exactly? It seems like Bloom isn’t all that happy about it considering it’s “unheard of” and will “make the news.” Of course, she loves to help patients so she’ll likely help him anyway. However, it means her ED is going to be shut down. So, what’s she going to do?

Something that is interesting is that Max is being told he can break the law if he needs to so he can deal with this crisis. It’s not often members of the board are happy with that.
