Feb. 28 saw movement up and down in the TV ratings. As Hawaii Five-0 and Charmed gained in both metrics, MacGyver and Lincoln Rhyme dropped.

Charmed and Hawaii Five-0 saw some upward ticks in the Friday TV ratings on Feb. 28. Meanwhile, Lincoln Rhyme and MacGyver continued to struggle. Here’s a look at the ratings for the last Friday of February.

While I’m looking at Hawaii Five-0, it is with some bad news. The series is ending after its current season. This sounds like a decision from the show rather than the network, especially when you consider the ratings. However, the ratings were good on Friday night, ticking up 11% in the demo and 2% in the total audience to take the top figures of the night out of all regular programming.

The CW also had a good night with both Charmed and Dynasty. I know I don’t usually comment on the shows that have already been renewed, but Charmed is a special case. Each week, the show has mostly ticked up in the ratings. The second season is certainly stronger than the first, more focused on a particular plot instead of trying to do everything at once. It’s no wonder The CW chose to renew it.

Out of the shows still to be renewed, MacGyver and Lincoln Rhyme are the two to be concerned about. The CBS reboot, MacGyver, continues to fall. This week it lost 3% of its audience and 6% of its demo. I was surprised to find out that the series was renewed for Season 4, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the end. However, with Hawaii Five-0 ending, it may just hang on for another season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector has struggled to keep its audience. It may benefit from its Hulu audience at the weekend, but the writing has been too predictable from the start. I’d hoped the show would pick things up but the recent storyline with the Bone Collector’s wife has been too easy to guess.

The non-scripted shows continue to perform well. FOX’s WWE took the top spot in the demo, although the audience was at the lowest of the Big 4 with 2.72 million. Shark Tank was up 37% in the demo and 52% in the total audience and 20/20 was up 39% in the demo and 42% in the total audience. I think these two are safe.

Despite the 10% drop in the demo and 7% drop in the total audience, I don’t think we have to worry about Dateline. This is a show that tends to go up and down depending on the specific subject of the night, and NBC understands that.
