Wednesday TV ratings: SEAL Team up, SWAT down
Mar. 4 saw the return of SWAT and Stumptown, while SEAL Team put one of its own in the firing line. Here’s how the shows performed in the TV ratings.
It was a night of new episodes for almost all shows. That meant there was a lot of pressure on the live ratings. As SEAL Team and Stumptown ticked up, SWAT and the One Chicago shows ticked down. Here’s a look at the Mar. 4 TV ratings and what they could mean.
There aren’t that many shows on the bubble on Wednesdays anymore. NBC recently renewed all three One Chicago shows, so there’s absolutely no need to be concerned about all three shows dipping in both metrics. The CW’s shows are also renewed.

Eyes are on ABC, CBS, and FOX. However, ABC opted for a special during the first two hours, meaning only Stumptown aired a new episode. The demo and audience ticked up, but it may be too little too late. The one thing keeping this TV crime dramedy safe is the delayed viewer ratings, but will they be enough to save it?
FOX had a good night, starting with The Masked Singer. With the reveal of Taco, the show enjoyed the highest demo of the night, sitting at a 1.8 rating. It was also steady in the total audience. Even LEGO Masters saw an upward tick in the demo, with a steady audience. This freshman unscripted series may be safe, and it’s clear The Masked Singer will get a fourth season.
CBS is the network with shows on the line. Survivor is likley safe. Not only did it get a 3% boost in the demo and 7% boost in the audience, but it continues to perform well against Chicago Med and The Masked Singer.
With Ray’s career on the line, SEAL Team also saw upward ticks. The episodes that focus on a particular problem and are enclosed tend to be the best. They offer some of the strongest writing. While the show remains on the bubble, there’s hope that the show will be renewed for a fourth season.
The series I am concerned about is SWAT. After a four-week break, the series returned with a 21% dip in both the demo and total audience. It’s certainly suffering with the timeslot and CBS may decide it’s not worth renewing for a fourth season.
