The Resident fell in the Tuesday TV ratings, but it wasn’t alone. Meanwhile, The Bachelor’s finale gave For Life a boost. Here are the Mar. 10 ratings.

As we keep an eye on networks making their cancellation and renewal decisions, the live TV ratings each day become more important. We need to see upward ticks, but Mar. 10 didn’t offer all that much in the way of positivity.

ABC had the best night out of all networks with its second half of The Bachelor finale. It ticked up again after Monday’s episode, pulling in a new season-high in both the demo and audience. The 2.4 demo rating was the highest for the entire night, too.

With the upward tick for The Bachelor, freshman drama For Life saw a boost. It ticked up 45% in the demo to 0.8 and was up 25% in the total audience. These season-high results are encouraging, but we need to see whether the show can hold onto that without The Bachelor leading it in. It does suggest that there’s an audience out there for it, though.

All other shows still with unknown futures saw downward ticks in the ratings. With the higher audience and demo that The Bachelor saw, this isn’t all that surprising. The viewers had to come from somewhere.

NCIS remained the top-viewed show despite the 12% dip. FBI was just behind The Bachelor, but sadly FBI: Most Wanted saw a 13% dip in the demo and 3% dip in the total audience. I don’t think there’s too much to worry about any of the shows, but the dips are something to keep an eye on.

The Resident also saw a dip in the ratings, losing 14% of its demo and 23% of its total audience. The total audience isn’t anything to be overly concerned about. It’s still one of the most-watched shows on FOX. The demo rating is the most concerning. It will be interesting to see if FOX looks at streaming and DVR results moving forward knowing that the Tuesday 8 p.m. slot against NCIS is never a good time.

All other shows are either ending or have already been renewed. However, it’s worth noting that most saw big dips in both the demo and audience metrics. This Is Us was down 20% in both, while New Amsterdam lost 13% of its audience. Empire also lost 18% of its audience, but did see a 7% increase in the demo.

Legends of Tomorrow was the only show not on ABC to see both metrics tick up. Yet it followed an 18% dip in the demo for The Flash. This should be something networks consider when looking at the results.
