Fresh off eight seasons on Arrow, Stephen Amell will be heading to Atlanta in April where his new series, Heels, will begin production.

Stephen Amell, who since 2012 played the vigilante turned hero, Oliver Queen, on The CW’s successful series, Arrow, is trading in his bow and arrows for a spandex suit. Portraying Jack Spade, the “heel” of the Duffy Wrestling Association, Amell has already been gearing up for the eight-episode series of Heels with hardcore workouts according to the star’s Twitter account.

Some familiar faces will be joining Amell in Atlanta as part of the series, including Alexander Ludwig, known for Vikings and former NFL linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, James Harrison. Broadway actress, Alison Luff, who has previously been seen in New Amsterdam, is taking on the role of Staci Spade, wife to Jack Spade. And the Lionsgate Starz television series has been on the lookout for additional actors, crew, and stunt performers in the Atlanta area.

Heels is set in a small town in Georgia and pits brother against brother in a rivalry that takes place in and outside the wrestling ring. Though Amell will play the villain wrestler, outside the ring, he’s trying to preserve his father’s legacy and be a husband and father.

To fans of Amell, it comes as no surprise that the actor would tackle this role as he’s been a longtime fan of WWE and even took on Cody “Stardust” Rhodes in a tag team match at SummerSlam in 2015 where the Bleacher Report’s Tom Clark said the actor did more than okay.

"He did more than OK for a celebrity—he looked as though he actually belonged not only in the ring but among the other wrestlers as well."

Written by Michael Waldron, who is also penning Marvel Studio’s Loki, Heels does not yet have an official release date, although Amell announced on Michael Rosenbaum’s (Smallville) podcast that, most likely, the series will premiere in the fall of 2020.
