A Discovery of Witches debuted on Sky One on Sept. 14, 2018, and fans are still waiting for the season 2 release date.

When A Discovery of Witches, the popular television series based upon Deborah Harkness’ “All Souls” trilogy, released in Sept. 2018, it quickly earned a legion of fans. The forbidden love story between an ancient vampire, Matthew Clairmont, and Dr. Diana Bishop, a witch and historian, drew in viewers as did the combination of the magical and the paranormal.

Not long after release, the series was renewed for Seasons 2 and 3. It was subsequently released on AMC, Sundance, Shudder Now, and Shudder along with BBC America. Season 1 ran for eight episodes and ended on a cliffhanger. While readers of the book series know what happens next, viewers who haven’t picked up the books don’t, and there hasn’t been much information on when fans can expect to see the premiere of the second season.

Understandably, fans are a little frustrated and have taken to A Discovery of WitchesFacebook page and Twitter to ask when Season 2 will released, but as of yet, they have not received a reply. Though cast announcements for the upcoming season have been made and a screen capture of the two main characters in the second season has been shared, there hasn’t been any news regarding a release date .

In January, director Farron Blackburn announced a wrap on filming. But one important fact many fans might not know is that the series was filming in Italy.

With Italy currently under quarantine because of the coronavirus, it’s not surprising that star Teresa Palmer has also taken to self-isolation. And it wouldn’t be surprising if more of the cast and crew were taking precautions as well. Though filming has wrapped, there is still much to be done before the series can return.

That being said, fans are waiting on the edge of their seats for a date which will give them something to look forward to in these trying times. Though Sky One has previously indicated the series will return in 2020, the anticipation is certainly getting to the fans.
