Motherland: Fort Salem premieres: Watch the series premiere

Motherland: Fort Salem is finally set to premiere on Freeform. We have everything you need to know to make sure you don’t miss it!

All of you witch fans out there, get excited! Motherland: Fort Salem premieres on Freeform tonight. The new series is about an alternate world where witches serve as warriors on the frontline to protect the United States.

In this new history, the Salem witch trials only end when the witches and the U.S. government come to an agreement of a new way witches can serve their country in exchange for protection. Based on the trailer for the series, these young women will pushed to their absolute limits as they improve their skills and study everything from protective magic to harnessing their sexuality and using it as a weapon.

The synopsis for the opening episode, titled “Say the Words,” says the girls will begin training with supernatural weapons to fight against a looming terrorist threat—called the “Spree” in the official trailer. One character says that people that are part of the Spree look the same as them, although it isn’t clear if they have the same abilities or if they might be human. I wonder if we can anticipate one of the witches being an undercover agent for the antagonist group?

Photos for the first episode show several of the main girls practicing different fighting styles and sitting together around a candle in a room. It looks like we’ll be jumping straight into the action and seeing how “Fort Salem” truly functions.

The new television show stars Taylor Hickson, Jessica Sutton, Amalia Holm, Demetria McKinney, and Ashley Nicole Williams.
