Production for Peaky Blinders Season 6 is currently on hold, but fans were treated to a sneak peek inside the newly renovated Garrison pub set.

Earlier this year, the Peaky Blinders pre-production team scouted locations, updated sets, and crafted new costumes in preparation for shooting the sixth season of the popular drama series. With filming now on hold, the premiere of Peaky Blinders Season 6 likely won’t hit our screens until a later date than previously thought, but a halt on production doesn’t mean fans can’t catch a glimpse of what’s in store next season.

The Garrison pub on the series, owned by Shelby Brothers Limited, is much more than just a bar in Birmingham for the locals. Over the course of the series, the pub has grown and adapted along with the Shelby family, has been one of the few locations that’s been included in all five seasons — a symbol for Tommy’s loyalty and success. And now, ahead of the time jump into the 1930s, director Anthony Byrne has released several photos of the newly renovated pub.

Anthony Byrne confirmed that the front half of the bar will not be changing much for “story reasons,” but it’s the back half of the pub that will see the most physical change related to the updated time and conflicts for the new episodes. We haven’t been in the back half of this pub too often on the series, and it will be interesting to see how the two separate spaces will play different roles in facilitating the characters and story.

Byrne also explained that the renovation focused on highlighting the black and gold color scheme with a very dark tone overall. He went on to reveal that the black and gold colors will play a thematic role in Peaky Blinders Season 6 and that he wanted to “layer them anywhere [he] could.” So definitely expect to see more sets and costumes featuring black and gold designs.

As to the significance of these two colors? His lips are sealed, but we’re wondering if it’s representative of a class divide, a political divide, or maybe even something related to a new enemy of the Shelbys next year.
