Who else is excited to have new, weekly episodes of One Day at a Time? The former Netflix original premiered its fourth season on March 24 with successful ratings across three of ViacomCBS’ channels. Not only will the show continue airing on Pop TV every Tuesday, but it will also simulcast on TVLand going forward.
Episode 2, appropriately titled “Penny Pinching,” will focus on Penelope’s struggles with spending money on new things. More specifically, the Alvarez family is in need of a new couch. As previewed in this clip, Schneider has to convince Penelope that their old couch is broke beyond repair.

It looks like the hilarious duo will embark on a mission at the local furniture store to find the right couch for the family. I’m sure Schneider will voice his opinions more than Penelope cares to hear.
Considering One Day at a Time is notorious for exploring important topics, I’m curious to see how “Penny Pinching” will delve into Penelope’s desire to save money. After all, she is a single mother raising two busy teenagers.
Elsewhere in the new episode, Elena will struggle with making it to important e-sports match. For those who don’t know what e-sports is, it’s typically a gathering of video game players to compete on a league or team. Believe it or not, there is a such thing as professional e-sports players.
I have to wonder what’s preventing her from making it to the e-sports match. Is it because Penelope is out couch shopping? Perhaps Alex is pestering her? Either way, Elena is going to be in a foul mood.
The drama doesn’t stop there, though. Alex’s new girlfriend will meet the family during a hilarious dinner away from home. Check out the minute-long clip here:
