Have you ever watched your favorite Grey’s Anatomy character leave and wished someone would’ve yelled, “April Fools!” Well, us too. Here are 5 Grey’s exits we wish were April Fools’ jokes.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally attacked by the exit of your favorite Grey’s Anatomy character. I imagine there’s a lot of hands being raised. Would you have been angrier if someone yelled “April Fools!” after watching Derek die in Season 11? Or what about when Arizona and April were written off together?

In an attempt to bring a little “what if” into your lives on this April Fools’ Day, here’s a look at five Grey’s Anatomy character exits we wish were jokes, and what would’ve happened if they stayed (or came back).

5. Lexie Grey

Lexie Grey didn’t deserve her fate. Meredith’s younger halfsister exited the show in heartbreaking fashion at the end of Season 8 thanks to the infamous plane crash. It’s hard to believe that was eight years ago!

Chyler Leigh was said to be over the way her character was written on the show, so of course we had to say goodbye to Lexie in one of the worst ways possible. But what if the events of the plane crash turned out to be a hallucination of sorts through the eyes of Meredith or even Mark Sloan?

If Lexie’s (and Mark’s) death was actually a not-so-funny April Fools’ joke, I’m sure she’d be raising a beautiful family with Sloan. Nevertheless, Lexie’s death is one of the reasons why the hospital is now known as Grey Sloan Memorial.
