As a customer safari breaks out at Cloud 9, Amy ignites a feud between Jonah’s family and receives a call that could hint at her exit from Superstore.

Well, that’s one way to meet the family. Superstore introduces Amy to Jonah’s parents and brother, but their lunch doesn’t begin or end with one big, happy family. When Jonah’s family incessantly ribs him about past choices and humiliations, Amy can’t sit back and watch them tear apart, even jokingly as they claim, the man she loves. That feels like a level up for Amy and Jonah, right?

Back at Cloud 9, the employees get up to their usual tricks when Amy’s off the premises. After Garrett and Mateo swap customer horror stories, their shared recent histories with the oddest of the bunch inspire a new game called customer safari. During the storewide game, Dina’s impromptu date with Brian becomes interrupted by her insecurity and her instinct for store security.

Let’s recap the latest episode of Superstore with the five best jokes from “Customer Safari.”

1. “Really? It feels like you grew up talking over a large group.”

Before starting work, Jonah and Amy discuss their plans to have lunch with his parents and brother, and Glenn can’t believe he didn’t grow up with an excessive amount of siblings. Amy, on the other hand, feels the pressure of meeting Jonah’s family for the first time. Let’s just say, her instincts were in the right place. She probably feels lucky that Jonah doesn’t have more siblings.

2. “Yesterday, a lady came in and complained about a sandwich she made at home.”

Garrett and Mateo, who should probably stop bonding after last week’s scheme and this week’s, commiserate over strange customer encounters. Cheyenne chimes in with a story about three children on leashes in the store. Before long, Mateo and Cheyenne are bringing stories of weird customers to Garrett to judge the weirdest and a new game is born: customer safari.

3. “I know romance, Glenn, okay? I’ve seen You’ve Got Mail… 40 minutes of it. I was getting my tires rotated.”

While roasting Amy to Glenn, Dina’s boyfriend walks into the store, announcing he has an early day and asking her to lunch. She agrees, but the second he walks away, she panics. Glenn tries to talk her down, forcing her to bark back a defense about having seen less than half of You’ve Got Mail. But watching a Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan rom-com classic is a pretty low bar for feeling comfortable with spontaneous day dates with your new boyfriend, Dina.

4. “And make sure the customer doesn’t see you. For some reason, privacy’s hot right now.”

The concept of customer safari revolves around spotting a customer engaging in the behaviors Garrett has listed, against the corresponding point value, and taking a discrete photo for Garrett’s approval. Quickly, the competition heats up. Mateo catches Cheyenne staging a photo with a friend, but they keep the cheating scandal under wraps in an exchange for a cut of the $200 cash prize. Obviously, Dina catches wind of the scheme happening under her nose, and she almost allows the safari ruin her date until she realizes she and Brian make a great team.

5. “Okay, fine. But this high road thing looks better on Michelle Obama.”

As soon as lunch begins, Jonah’s family begins ripping into him about his childhood obsession with their dog Matilda, the play he wrote about her, and the lie he told about attending medical school. His brother, Josh (guest star Jason Ritter), cruelly makes fun of Jonah, and although Jonah tries to keep Amy from defending him, she ditches the high road. Soon, the truth about his father’s affair and Josh’s history of lying ends the lunch in absolute shambles. But Amy’s shocking afternoon continues when she receives a phone call for a job interview at Zephra HQ in Palo Alto.
