The energetic Jack Black films have seen him take on the roles of some very hilarious characters. Let’s look at which of those films were the funniest.

Actor Jack Black gives off the impression that he’s a loud, silly, and maniac in most of his films. That’s further enforced by most of his characters being just like that. Nevertheless, he’s a unique talent whose movies are usually hysterical.

The now 50-year-old (I can’t believe it either) has showcased his diverse talent to audiences throughout his many years in show business. His first film role came in the 1992 film Bob Roberts. The actor was also the voice of Po, the lead character in the animated Kung Fu Panda film series.

Black’s other talents include playing music in a band called Tenacious D and having his own epic YouTube Channel called JablinskiGames. The channel has 4.5 million subscribers and the entertainer’s videos are always enjoyable, crazy, and funny.

In terms of his films, let’s look at a few of the funniest Jack Black films to date.

School of Rock (2003)

In School of Rock, Slacking Dewey Finn (Jack Black) is an avid musician in the band No Vacancy, but misfortune catches up to him when he’s kicked out of his music group and on the verge of being kicked out of the place he’s living in with buddy Ned Schneebly (Mike White). With no choice but to recover some cash, Finn fakes being Ned and takes on the role of a substitute teacher at a high-ranked prep school without a clue about how to teach.

Instead, Dewey decides to teach the students the art of rocking out in a band, forming a classroom music group to compete in a Battle of the Bands competition. Finn’s hilariously making a mockery of the education system and instead tries to unite his students through music.

The only problem is the foolish oaf is caught not actually teaching and subsequently booted out of “his” job. What will happen with the Battle of the Bands and will helpless Dewey ever get to crowd-surf and rock out on stage again?

Nacho Libre (2006)

In Nacho Libre, Ignacio (Jack Black) is a dedicated cook in a monastery, but deep down he knows that wrestling is what he wants to do. Unfortunately, the “chef” cannot technically go against what is banned by the monastery but decides to do so anyway.

With a street hooligan named Steven (Hector Jimenez), the two underqualified partners decide to wrestle as a team to earn money. Ignacio hysterically makes his name “Nacho” now. The hard-working, but inexperienced/inept Nacho loses a few matches in his epic costume, but still generates cash to cook great meals for orphans at the monastery.

Unfortunately, one of Nacho’s mishaps gets him caught by the monastery. Can the goofy-looking wrestler continue to live his out passion and be someone all the orphans look up to?

Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny (2006)

JB (Jack Black) is an aspiring musician who comes to Hollywood in hopes of getting his own band going in Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. He sees an epic guitarist named KG (Kyle Gass) showing his prowess and wants to learn from him.

KG claims he is part of a stellar band but is a phony who hysterically makes JB do his errands while promising to teach him “the methods” to success. When the charade is unmasked, the two form their own band instead, called Tenacious D. Afterwards, the two amateurs embark on a hilarious quest to get the Pick of Destiny, a guitar pick which can magically turn anyone into a legendary rockstar.

The two chumps finally pinpoint the pick, but break it in a senseless altercation. Will these two buffoons ever get the chance to showcase their music and be legends?

As mentioned before, Black’s real-life band is called Tenacious D and this film is focused around that band. Kyle Gass is also a member of the group.
