The most important part about The Walking Dead finale is going to be the return of a special character.

There is almost no way to avoid the news. Every fan of The Walking Dead is aware of the “big secret” at this point. With Rick gone, Michonne on hiatus, and Carol taking Zoloft, the series desperately needs someone hardened to return to the cast.

Enter the the most obvious potential person behind the mask.

1. Welcome back…

The first guess is Maggie. She’s been gone for six-ish years, and could easily have learned a new skill. Also, the odds of Lauren Cohan returning without at least a little bump in her character’s stature is unrealistic. She’s going to come back badder, angrier, and she’s likely going to be the one who takes over the leadership role.

Her return to The Walking Dead could prove to be explosive. She has already lost so much, considering her entire family died and her husband got his head smashed in by Negan. So how will she react to the change in dynamics? She loved Enid like a daughter. Jesus was sort of a second in command. And she had a definite affinity for Tara. All three have died at the hands of the Whisperers.

Factor all that in, and it doesn’t even get into her hatred for Negan. How would she react to the fact he has not only ingratiated himself, but has become a pseudo “savior” for the survivors? If the masked figure is Maggie, The Walking Dead is going to take things to a new, exciting level.
