Though the Green Lantern series is a go, little is known about the cast, but David Ramsey might have given a hint.

Every fan of Arrow knows that David Ramsey’s character, John Diggle, found the Green Lantern ring in the series finale. That led to a swirl of speculation as to whether Oliver Queen’s best friend would join the ranks of super-powered heroes.

Ramsey himself is excited about the series and shared a familiar picture with his over one million Instagram followers that ignited a ton of questions and even more hope that the buff actor would become the next John Stewart. It certainly helped that Ramsey added the caption “my power” to the image. Of course, it’s entirely possible this could be a behind-the-scenes shot from the finale; however, since the last episode of Arrow aired almost three months ago, it does seem a bit out of place.

More from HBO

Ramsey has previously said that he had spoken with producer Greg Berlanti about the Green Lantern series and added that “people are going to be really stoked about this show.” Berlanti himself promised that this will be the biggest DC show ever made, and given that it will air on HBO Max, the series will have a lot more leeway than it would on network television. But the producer wouldn’t reveal anything additional about the series or the cast.

After Arrow ended, Ramsey opened up about the green glow teaser but could offer very little information about whether he would be headed into the Green Lantern series.

"“We did have some restrictions from DC, so we had to kind of play within that. But it wouldn’t be Arrow if there wasn’t some question even after that opened-ended tease. And it’s a huge tease, and obviously, your mind goes to only one thing — there being a ring and him becoming this wonderful character and joining this galactic police group — but it’s still open-ended, and that’s the way we wanted to leave it. It was great to have some sort of answer, but we’re left with some questions.”"

Marc Guggenheim, the executive producer of Arrow, said that he and Ramsey had spoken a lot about Ramsey’s future after Arrow, and that they had some good ideas which he wouldn’t elaborate on. Though there’s no indication that Guggenheim will be involved in the Green Lantern series, he did co-write the screenplay of the 2011 Green Lantern movie with Greg Berlanti. And no one knows how well David Ramsey would fit the character of John Stewart better than those who’ve worked with him.
