1. The Sinner

Original Release Date: August 2, 2017 – present

Ratings: The Sinner has performed decently in terms of ratings, well enough that USA Network has opted to renew the series for three seasons thus far.

Critical Acclaim: It has a high approval rating of 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and has garnered several award nominations during its run, including two for Jessica Biel.

About the Role: While Biel has served as an executive producer on the show since the beginning, she only acted in season one (so far). She played Cora Tannetti, a woman who suddenly and abruptly snaps on a man and violently stabs him to death while at the beach.

Simply the Best: The Sinner is based on a book of the same name by Petra Hammesfahr. The show is very haunting and compelling. One reason people enjoy it so much is that it is very hard to predict what direction the series will move in.

Cora’s actions appeared to be entirely unprovoked, but the season slowly unraveled a complex and deeply disturbing backstory that shed light on her motivations. Each season begins with an improbable death committed by someone unexpected and then explores what drove that person to that point.

Biel’s performance was completely different from any role she had done before, and it showed that she truly has impressive talents as an actress.
