When Calls the Heart gets renewed for Season 8

When Calls the Heart fans, known as hearties, have spent the last few weeks concerned for the renewal of their favorite show.

Fortunately, series star Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton, announced the great news at the end of the season finale. When Calls the Heart has been renewed for season 8, which makes perfect sense given the incredible ratings this season which executive producer Brian Bird has been sharing after each episode.

In addition, the series often trends on Twitter during each new episode, often with the cast interacting with the #hearties.

It’s taken an unusual amount of time for the series to be renewed, and that had fans concerned so much they began a campaign that urged Hallmark Channel to renew the series. #Season8wouldbegreat was the hashtag used on Twitter, and the channel was flooded with emails from #hearties who couldn’t imagine their Sunday nights without When Calls the Heart.

Even after seven seasons, the series hasn’t lost its spark, and the writers continue to create wonderful story lines that showcase the multi-faceted talents of the incredible cast.

This season brought a love triangle for Elizabeth Thornton, a trying time for Henry Gowen, a reconnection with his sister for Lee Coulter as well as a near-death experience for both him and his wife, Rosemary, a wedding for Jesse and Clara, and the chance to become a doctor for Faith Carter, who was missing from the last few episodes of the season because actress Andrea Brooks was on maternity leave.

Overall, writers and producers pulled out all stops, and the cast continued to bring their best to the screen. So while #hearties are thrilled at the renewal, they aren’t surprised. And, no doubt, the record-breaking numbers will continue into season 8.
