Station 19 Season 3 looks to be ending on an explosive note, and someone from Grey Sloan will be in danger. Here’s what we know so far.

Station 19‘s Season 3 finale is quickly approaching with only three new episodes left to air as of writing this. While it’s exciting to know that production wrapped before the pandemic could alter plans, fans will once again fear for the lives of their favorite characters.

We now know that Episode 16, eerily titled “Louder Than a Bomb,” will air on Thursday, May 14. Interestingly enough, this finale will provide us a glimpse at what was supposed to happen in the original Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 finale before the season was cut short by four episodes.

More from ABC

Based on the press release, it’s now clear that Station and Grey’s were going to have a crossover finale event with lives hanging in the balance. This is evident by the fact that Meredith Grey, Amelia Shepherd, Teddy Altman, and Carina DeLuca are now confirmed to appear in the Station 19 season-ender.

Even more so, this big event will be set at Pac-North, the hospital that Alex Karev, Richard Webber, and Owen Hunt recently worked at before Catherine Fox bought it out. The official synopsis reads as follows:

"Andy becomes painfully suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death and goes to her aunt looking for answers. Meanwhile, the members of the crew work to evacuate a doctor from Pac-North hospital and find themselves in a life-threatening situation; and Sullivan undergoes surgery for his chronic leg pain."

More of Andy’s backstory revealed?

Clearly, there’s a lot to unpack here. Starting with the Andy situation, the last few episodes of the season will follow her grief journey after the losses of Ryan and her father. As if that wasn’t already sad enough, it sounds like Andy will do some investigating into the death of her mother, which happened years ago.

Another major death?

The next part of the synopsis reveals the meat of the episode, which will center around the firefighters working to rescue a doctor at Pac-North. Considering we know who is guest-starring in this episode, it looks like one of the four (Meredith, Amelia, Teddy, or Carina) could find themselves in a life or death situation.

There’s always a chance that it’s a different doctor at risk. ABC’s press releases don’t always reveal the full guest star cast as to keep surprises under wraps. For all we know, it could be Jackson, DeLuca, Koracick, Owen, Richard, or anyone else with ties to Pac-North.

Unfortunately, no matter who it is, there’s a great chance that a prominent Grey’s character will die as a result. TVLine reported after the Grey’s Season 16 aired that the original finale “was to feature a cataclysmic event that would have likely claimed the life of a major character.”

Showrunner Krista Vernoff would neither confirm or deny those rumors, but she did state that Episodes 15 and 16 of Station 19 will reveal what was planned for Grey’s Anatomy. TVLine’s report also stated that the cataclysmic event was rumored to be an explosion. And based off of Station 19‘s finale’s title, I’d reckon those rumors are unfortunately true.

Sullivan goes under the knife

In a little bit of lighter news, we also know that Captain Sullivan will have surgery for his chronic leg pain, which has been prevalent throughout Season 3. His storyline also incorporated drug abuse (and overdose) as he attempted to treat the problem on his own.

This kind of surgery could require the presence of Meredith, Amelia, and/or Teddy for various reasons. Considering Amelia just had a baby, I’d like to think that she’ll be in this episode to support and comfort Sullivan while everyone else is out saving lives.

A cliffhanger is almost guaranteed

By the end of Station 19‘s Season 3 finale, fans will likely be left wondering for months what happens next. Sadly, we won’t have that “part two” to help answer our questions thanks to Grey’s ending earlier than planned. What will Andy discover? Will Sullivan have any career-threatening complications? Will Pac-North go up in flames? Will the doctor in question die?
