Blue Bloods, the long-running family cop drama on CBS, was recently renewed for Season 11.

Actually, recently renewed might not be the case as one of the lead actors of Blue Bloods, Donnie Wahlberg, already told his fans the show had been renewed when he was asked on Twitter. His response led to a wealth of excitement from devoted viewers even though it shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

Blue Bloods consistently wins in the Friday night ratings even after ten seasons, and recently, series star, Tom Selleck, indicated he was already negotiating his contract for season 11 and hoping for more than just a one season renewal. Fortunately, CBS made the official announcement on May 6th, although, it was only for one season.

With a surprise ending in the May 1st finale, Blue Bloods set the stage for more stories next season with the addition of a new Reagan family member, and with Tom Selleck (and others) interested in pursuing the series beyond Season 11, fans have every reason to be excited about future renewals.

As of now, Blue Bloods is on hiatus, and there is no information when the cast and crew will be able to resume filming in preparation for next season. Following Donnie Wahlberg on Twitter, though, is undoubtedly a good way to keep abreast of what’s happening. He’s as eager to get back to work as we are to see what Blue Bloods will bring us!

You can catch up on all seasons of Blue Bloods at CBS All Access. The first nine seasons are available on Hulu.
