8. The Howling

From Andy Muschietti, the director of It, comes a new version of The Howling. Based on the novel by Gary Brandner, the original movie was released in 1981 and became an instant classic. As someone who personally disliked the original and thought it was just another boring werewolf movie, I can’t wait to see what Muschietti does with it.

The film will be a Netflix creation that Muschietti’s sister Barabra Muschietti will produce. Muschietti expressed interest in remaking The Howling during the San Diego Comic-Con panel for It: Chapter Two and now it looks like he might get his wish. The Howling will be Muschietti’s next project after The Flash. No writer or cast has been announced yet.

7. Blade

The original Blade starring Wesley Snipes was a huge deal when it came out. Not only was it a decent comic book adaptation in a time when comic book adaptations sucked, but Blade was also one of the first black superheroes to ever hit the big screen. It got a great sequel and then a terrible one, but now it’s getting a special reboot, special because it will take place within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

The character of Blade will be played by Mahershala Ali and according to a post made by Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Law Podcast, is expected to be released on October 7, 2022. This is an unconfirmed rumor though and could be wrong, but it seems plausible. No Marvel films have been officially scheduled for release beyond Captain Marvel 2. However, Kevin Feige has confirmed that Blade will not be a part of Marvel’s Phase 4, making it the possibly beginning film for Phase 5.

The film was first announced during Marvel Studios’ July 20 panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, where Ali made a surprise appearance to confirm his involvement. There’s little to no detail on this project beyond who is playing Eric Brooks/Blade.
