Batwoman’s season finale leaves us with many questions for Season 2. The biggest one is whether we will see the iconic DC hero Bruce Wayne aka Batman make an appearance. Here’s what we know.

Batwoman‘s season finale leaves us with many questions. Will Alice go even deeper down the rabbit hole without Mouse? Will Kate’s father ever accept Batwoman? When will we meet Safiyah? But one of the biggest questions by far is whether we will see Bruce Wayne aka Batman in Batwoman Season 2.

The season finale found Alice more alone than ever as Mouse prepared to leave her after realizing she wasn’t going to give up her quest for revenge against her family. So, as any totally sane person would do, Alice poisons Mouse to prevent him from leaving her. With Mouse gone, Alice turns to Tommy Elliott, now known as Hush, to help with her plans.

She’s been looking for kryptonite so that she can kill her sister Kate, but in order to do that she needs to get into Wayne Enterprises. She also promised Tommy a new face in return for his help in obtaining Lucius Fox’s journal. To kill two birds with one stone, she gave Tommy a new face that came as a surprise to many viewers.

Tommy has long had an obsession with his former friend Bruce Wayne, so much so, that it landed him in Arkham Asylum. So it’s oddly fitting that the new face Alice has given him is the face of none other than Bruce Wayne himself! And he is played by actor Warren Christie.

What does this mean going forward? How long will it take for Batwoman and her team to figure out the deception? And does this mean that we’re going to be seeing the actual Bruce Wayne on the show soon?

As for the other questions, we’ll have to wait and see, but as to whether we will be seeing the actual Bruce Wayne make an appearance the answer seems to sadly be a resounding no at this point.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Caroline Dries discusses how she had to have major negotiations with DC to make this happen, and it seems the twist was contingent on the fact that the audience never think it was really Bruce Wayne. She says:

"They were ready to play ball, but there’s this one caveat, which is that we needed to be on the A-side of the information. Meaning, originally, we wanted it that Bruce Wayne shows up, “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God,” [then] reveal “Holy s—, that’s Tommy Elliot.” But that wasn’t in the cards for us.So we were like, “What if we show you the A-side? We’re all in on it so nobody’s thinking it’s Bruce Wayne from the audience’s point of view. We’re not getting anybody’s hopes up.” And boom, we get to see how this lands on our heroes and watch them react to it. […] When I got the show, I inherited this rule of no Batman, no Bruce Wayne, so it never occurred to me to start daydreaming."

Don’t get your hopes up, because it doesn’t seem like Kate Kane will be getting a visit from her cousin any time soon. However, it is exciting that Batwoman has now put a face to Bruce Wayne! Something the Arrowverse shows might not have initially been able to do.

Now with Superman being part of DCTV, who knows? Maybe Batman will be too, one day. But it will be a long while until that happens, if it ever does. Thankfully, Batwoman has Gotham well defended in the meantime.
