Stargirl adds a sparkle of hope and light to the CW network. Here are the three biggest questions we have after the season premiere.

With Batwoman, The Flash and other current Arrowverse shows providing the CW lineup of heroes with dark action and drama, Stargirl offers a brighter, more hopeful take on the DC Universe. This isn’t to say it doesn’t pack on the action. On the contrary, the pilot episode picks up and wraps with great action sequences.

I enjoyed the pilot episode for Stargirl more than I do most pilots. The cast and crew truly take advantage of their first hour by doing more than introducing the main players of the season and setting up the story.

It only takes the first episode to become emotionally invested in Courtney Whitmore’s (Brec Bassinger) journey, and you’ll immediately love Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan aka S.T.R.I.P.E./Stripesy. The series is lighthearted, fun, and mysterious, while also proving it’s not afraid to show a dark side when needed.

If you missed the series premiere of Stargirl please note there are spoilers ahead! All caught up? Read on for the three biggest questions we have after watching Season 1, Episode 1.

Who is Courtney’s father?

This is easily the biggest mystery and will likely be a main plot point in the first season. Courtney believes Starman (Joel McHale) was her father, who died a hero on the night he disappeared, which does make sense. Her dad and Starman do look similar, also.

However, Pat, Starman’s sidekick and longtime best friend, says there’s no way this is possible. There wasn’t anything about Starman that Pat didn’t know, they had been best friends for a long time. Still, Pat can’t seem to know why Starman’s staff responds to Courtney.

In the comics, as Entertainment Weekly shares, Courtney’s father is no hero. He was conman who abandoned his family to be a low-ranking member of the Royal Flush Gang.

Is Courtney going to be disappointed when she learns the truth. That is, if the CW series goes the way of the comics. Or could Starman truly be her father?

What does Brainwave want?

What is Brainwave’s deal? In the series, he is portrayed by Christopher James Baker, and wow is he menacing! He also appears to be ruthless as he took on Courtney, a young girl, without any hesitation. Is he after the staff or just wants to ensure no one can have Starman’s power again? I’m unfamiliar with the comics, so I’ll have to stay tuned!

Stargirl’s sidekick?

At the very last minute, Pat shows up in his S.T.R.I.P.E armor to save the day. Let’s be honest, though, Courtney was able to get away from Brainwave just in time on her own, but it’s great to know Pat has her back and a sweet armor!

Will Pat be a sidekick once again, this time to Courtney? How will they hide this from Courtney’s mother? We’ll have to keep watching to learn more!
