Don’t miss the historic SpaceX launch with these live stream details

It’s a historic day today. Wednesday, May 27 marks the first space mission in almost nine years, and we get to be a part of it by watching live. Here’s all you need to know about the SpaceX launch, including how to watch it live.

Discovery and Science Channel will both air the event. Everything kicks off at 2 p.m. ET to start the buildup, with a behind-the-scenes look at NASA and SpaceX working together. This is the first time NASA has worked with a private company to get astronauts in space, and this mission is all about testing the components of the new vehicle. After this, there’s a chance to get astronauts to the International Space Station in it and hopefully much more.

Baby steps, though! We need to see the test flight go off without a hitch first.

Space Launch Live: America Returns to Space

The initial event kicks off at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. Katy Perry, NASA engineer-now-YouTuber Mark Rober, and Adam Savage are among the celebrities taking you behind the scenes. Discovery and Science Channel have spent the past year documenting everything that’s been happening, which means there’s no concern about the coronavirus preventing us from learning more.

The launch itself will take place about 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT if that’s all you want to tune into. I’d make sure you have one of the channels up and running before that so you don’t miss out.

If you live near the Kennedy Space Center, please don’t go down to it. People aren’t allowed at the center and watching it from across the water wouldn’t allow for social distancing. Please follow the guidelines set by the state of Florida and stay home.
