Bebe Rexha took to Songland to pick a new song

Songland Season 2, Episode 8 is a big one. The song that Bebe Rexha picks will be sung at the Tokyo Olympics, which is now on hold until 2021. It’s a huge moment for the winner, so who did win? Which song did Bebe pick?

For those who don’t know of Bebe, you’ve heard her songs. She has written for top stars like Nicki Minaj and performed with Florida Georgia Line. Like other bands and artists who have picked songs, Bebe is here to help offer an upcoming song writer a chance.

The songwriters know that their tracks could be performed at the Tokyo Olympics. All brought their A-games.

More from NBC

Greg Scott was the first to take to the stage, whose wife encouraged him to apply. Titled “Miracle,” the song is about taking a chance on life and never giving up. There was plenty of discussion after the performance to see how this could develop into something for Bebe.

The second to take to the stage was Alyssa Newton, who comes from a family of attorneys. Instead of following the paths of her dad and sister, she moved to Nashville to major in songwriter. Titled “Made for Something,” which is a song about having purpose.

Anna Graceman took to the stage as the third contestant with the song “Gold.” Alyssa talked about how she’d faced struggles as a songwriter, and the song is about getting back up to chase the dream.

Finally, it was over to Josh Vida with the song “Crazy Enough.” The song has one of the more traditional focuses, with a story about loving someone.

Cutting the options down to three on Songland

Bebe Rexha had to cut down the four options to just three songs to take to the studio. This is the point where a lot of rewrites are the downfall, but for Greg Scott, his strong hook saved him despite the verses needing to be rewritten.

You do get a sense from the reactions of the songwriters of which ones are going to the studio. While Alyssa Newton’s song sounded good, there was always that sense that it didn’t quite fit Bebe’s style. That’s something Bebe felt, and Alyssa was the one not going to the studio.

So, who would make it as the number one pick on Songland Season 2, Episode 8? It was definitely a difficult choice, and it was an interesting choice in the end. History was made on the series.

Anna Graceman’s song, which was renamed “Bones,” was joined with Greg Scott’s “Miracle” to create a new song.

It’s something that makes sense. The two songs had very similar sounds and worked well together. Many songwriters now collaborate, and this episode proves that there’s not always one winner.

You can listen to “Miracle” below. We’ll bring you the official track as soon as it’s released.
