How many more episodes will be in HISTORY’s The UnXplained Season 1?

The UnXplained, a HISTORY documentary series that seeks to explore and understand the mysteries of the universe, wrapped up eight more episodes in April after debuting with an original eight in July 2019. Hosted and executive produced by William Shatner (Star Trek, Boston Legal), who often live-tweets each episode, the series gained a steady following of curious viewers who want answers to the unanswerable

Diving into mysteries like Japan’s Suicide Forest to the Black Stone of Mecca, The UnXplained gets deep into the weird and spooky, much like The Curse of Oak Island, and while some mysteries can’t be solved, scientists, historians, engineers, and researchers continue to try. And as Shatner says, “In this series, we suggest an answer.” And he ups the intrigue by posting questions like “would you be a donor for a vampire?” and “Is there a monster inside each of us?”

But Shatner understands that, often, there are no answers, and he says the lack of explanation is tantalizing.

"The fact there’s no explanation is tantalising. It would be good to think that one day we’ll understand all these mysteries. Because there is an explanation, we just don’t know it yet."

Can we look forward to new episodes this summer?

The UnXplained has aired 16 episodes so far since it debuted in 2019, and the History Channel recently announced that more episodes would return on July 11. On June 16, Shatner confirmed on Twitter that he has just gotten back from filming wraparounds. These are short programs usually shown between movies and other events, like cast interviews for movies on premium channels.

There will be new episodes of The UnXplained next month.
