Will we get a Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2? Yes, it’s coming!

Ever since Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1 aired in early May, we’ve been dying to have just one question answered: Will NBC renew the series for a second season? Well, we can finally breathe again because the renewal news has finally been released!

So, we’ve now answered one big question about the future of one of the most unique, moving new series to come to television in a very long time. With a second season guaranteed, we can now start moving on to many, many more questions.

Our excitement may seem a bit strange, given our post-episode analysis of Episode 12, we were pretty clear in saying we thought the finale was about as perfect as you could get. So, why would we be excited for Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2, when there’s that old saying about not messing with perfection?

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was renewed and we’re greedy for Season 2

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 1 might have ended flawlessly, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any story left to tell. For one thing, there’s still just enough love triangle left to keep that dynamic interesting.

Team Max definitely seemed to be in the lead as the series’s first season came to a close, but there was still just enough lingering something between Zoey and Simon to leave us wondering what might come next.

As it turns out, series creator Austin Winsberg left that particular plot point open-ended on purpose. Even before Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2 had been announced, he shared some of his thoughts on the matter with TV Line:

"The fact that she’s seeing Max in a more romantic light, but also with Simon coming back in Episode 12 and he’s actually starting his own personal growth and working on himself, it’s going to continue to create different options and challenges for Season 2. I didn’t want to go completely Team Max or Team Simon by the end."

Then, there’s the simple fact that Zoey’s gift didn’t magically go away after the death of her father, so there’s a whole world out there for our leading lady to help. That means more heart songs and more complex choreography to go along with them.

Next. Dear on Apple TV+ is a must watch. dark

How much more can we learn about the human experience through music and dance now that Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist has been renewed for Season 2? We’ll just have to wait and see; but if the series’s second act is anywhere near as good as its first, it will definitely be a journey you won’t want to miss.
