With its recent Netflix adaptation, it’s clear The Baby-Sitters Club is back. More than likely, we’ll see a bump in sales for the book series and hopefully, a second season. If you’ve already watched through the entire series, you might be in the mood for more of Ann M. Martin’s beloved property. If so, have no fear as The Baby-Sitters Club movie was released back in 1995.
Unlike the 2020 series, it’s definitely skewed more towards a teenage audience. The girls seem less like they’re 13 or 14 but are rather 16 or 17. Maybe it’s due to the casting, but it doesn’t really affect the movie. If anything, it makes the movie seem more realistic as the girls do a lot of things without adult supervision. Either way, the movie is clearly a product of its time but is still worthwhile.

As someone who loved the book series as a kid, The Baby-Sitters Club movie was everything and more. It truly felt like the actresses embodied the characters from the book but still made them their own. Coupled with the fashion, the soundtrack and all of the awesome moments of female friendship, the movie still holds up today. While it might not be as beloved by the younger generation, those of us who grew up reading the books will love it.

Where to stream The Baby-Sitters Club (1995): CBS All Access. Surprisingly, it’s not on Netflix although it would make sense. Instead, The Baby-Sitters Club movie is available to stream on CBS All Access. If you don’t have CBS All Access, you can start a week-long trial on Amazon so you can watch the film. Either way, you choose to watch, it’s definitely going to be a blast from the past and by the end, you’ll have the rap the girls made to help save Claudia from summer school.
If you do decide to watch, you’re in for a treat. The cast is incredible including Rachel Leigh Cook, Schuyler Fisk and Ellen Burstyn among others. While it’s going to differ from the current series, it’s nice to look back at the original film. Plus the cast of the film reunited in 2015 so it’s clear the Baby-Sitters Club gang is still going strong now.
