Throughout its 104 episodes, the sitcom showed the growth of characters, lessons, and overall was quite interesting. The Fosters was created by Peter Paige and Bradley Bredeweg and notably featured actress/singer Jennifer Lopez as an executive producer. It aired for five seasons from 2013-2018, which included the show airing on Freeform beginning in 2016 because of ABC Family changing its name.

The Fosters may be over, but a sequel is currently airing

The show has received several awards throughout its run, including two GLAAD Media Awards, a Teen Choice Award, and a TCA Award. It has also been nominated for many other accolades, including other Teen Choice Awards and a People’s Choice Award.

A spin-off series of The Fosters, called Good Trouble, released in January 2019 on Freeform. It has already released two seasons filled with 31 episodes up to this day and it has been renewed for a third. It features two main characters from the original series, Callie and Mariana, now both living in Los Angeles as young professionals. They must deal with adulthood and its challenges.
