The classic film The Notebook is now available on the streaming giant

The Notebook is one of the most well-known romantic films in American cinema and it’s once again returning to Netflix. First releasing in 2004, the film is based on author Nicholas Sparks’s original novel, which was published in 1996.

The movie followed the same storyline as the book, as an older version of Noah Calhoun (James Garner) tells another nursing home patient about the romantic story of a young working-class Noah (Ryan Gosling) and the wealthy Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) in the 1940s and how their love grows as time passes. He tells the tale from a notebook.

The Notebook also starred James Marsden, Kevin Connolly, Gena Rowlands, Joan Allen, and Sam Shepard. To this day, the film has held a huge place in pop culture and has been referenced very frequently.

More from Netflix

The film previously appeared on Netflix on Feb. 1 before being taken down only a month later on Mar. 1. Now, just four and a half months later, the classic film is once again available to stream on the service for those of you who may have missed out on the most recent chance.

The film is not the only edition of The Notebook to release after the book; a Broadway musical with the same name and based on the book and film was given the green-light just last year. It was scheduled to begin performing this coming September, but COVID-19 induced hiatuses will likely be in effect. Therefore, it remains uncertain as to when the musical will come to a theater.

The Notebook has won numerous awards in addition to its long-lasting popularity

The movie itself has gained various accolades and nominations. This includes winning multiple Teen Choice Awards, an MTV Movie Award, and a Golden Satellite Award.

For Gosling, this was his breakout film, and as we all know, he has had an ultra-successful acting career ever since. For McAdams, this film and Mean Girls, which also released in 2004, were both responsible for her rise in the acting industry.
