When Calls the Heart will begin filming Season 8 this month

Fans of the Hallmark Channel’s historical drama, When Calls the Heart, have a lot to look forward to now that filming for Season 8 will officially begin on July 27. With COVID-19 causing production delays, there was some question as to whether or not the series would be able to resume in time to begin airing next year.  Fortunately, executive producer Brian Bird allayed all fears and reassured fans that their favorite characters would return to Hope Valley this month.

The actors involved in When Calls the Heart arrived in Vancouver on July 10 to begin a 14-day quarantine as required by Canada. That quarantine ends Friday, July 24, hopefully giving the actors a weekend break before they begin filming for the eighth season of the popular drama.

Erin Krakow, who portrays Elizabeth Thornton, told fans she still has to get tested after the quarantine and wait for the results. So it’s assumed others have to do the same.

Fans have flocked to the stars’ social media pages to keep up-to-date with when their favorite series will return to the screen, and stars have been doing their best to both entertain and inform. While stuck in quarantine, Paul Greene, who portrays Dr. Carson Shepherd has been entertaining fans with live music sessions on his Instagram page.

Kevin McGarry, who portrays Mountie Nathan Grant, showcased his vocal abilities as well. Erin Krakow returned with her popular #askerin session on Twitter.

And When Calls the Heart will air a Christmas movie this December

The tradition continues as When Calls the Heart will debut yet another Christmas movie this holiday season. With the early return to filming this year, it’s possible the actors won’t begin filming for the movie until later this fall when the weather is a bit cooler. Regardless, fans are ecstatic to have a holiday movie to kick off the start of Season 8.

When Season 7 ended, Elizabeth Thornton had tentatively chosen the next man in her life when she ran to Mountie Nathan after fearing he’d been killed. Fans who were torn during the love triangle of Elizabeth, Nathan, and Lucas Bouchard have kept social media abuzz with debates as to whether or not she’d actually made a decision. Thankfully, with production set to begin, we’ll know soon enough.
