Will Netflix’s Work It get a sequel?
Does there need to be a Work It sequel on Netflix?
When a YA rom-com turns out to be a success, Netflix usually orders a sequel. Will a Work It sequel happen?
We just have to look at the likes of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Kissing Booth to see how Netflix movies can be a success. Work It seemed to tick many of the same boxes, especially when it came to Jordan Fisher playing the lead male. However, will we see a sequel happen?
Does there even need to be a Work It sequel?

Before we even get into whether Netflix will order a sequel, it’s worth looking at whether there needs to be a sequel. There weren’t many storylines left open to make a sequel necessary.
While we don’t know exactly where Quinn is going to college, I don’t feel like that is necessary. The main focus of the movie was the dance competition. Do we really need a sequel to know where she went to college?
This did feel more like a one-and-done movie, personally. Of course, I felt the same about Pitch Perfect, and yet we ended up with two extra movies in that franchise.
What could Work It 2 focus on?
Should Netflix decide to do a Work It sequel, what could the storyline be? It could be focused on retaining the title as the newest winner of the competition.
There is a slight problem with that. Quinn made a point at the end that already-graduated students couldn’t compete. As the team is mostly made up of seniors (maybe all of them were seniors?) wouldn’t that mean they couldn’t compete? Maybe there’s a different rule for the returning winners.
Or we could see the team with a new captain. Quinn and Jas could be called back to help with the choreography or they return in hope of capturing their dreams after a difficult freshman year at college.
But if I’m honest, the Work It sequel isn’t necessary.
