Work It ending: Did Quinn’s team win the competition?

Could Quinn’s dance team come out on top in Work It?

We all know how underdog stories end, right? Did we really expect Work It to end any differently?

Underdog stories always show the underdogs winning. It wouldn’t be one of those inspirational movies if it wasn’t the case. We need to see the underdogs struggle, look like they’re going to split up, and then come together at the end to finally win. That’s the exact same format that Work It followed.

It shouldn’t be that surprising to hear that Quinn’s team did win the big competition at the end.

From zero to hero

The movie is pretty much as you’d expect. Quinn wants to start a dance team after failing her audition to join her school’s competition-winning dance team. Quite frankly, she can’t dance. It’s not surprising she doesn’t get in.

And honestly, I’m not sure why anyone would even want to be on that team unless they needed to get into a dance school like Jasmine. But even then, Isaiah/Julliard, whatever he wants to be called, is downright awful to anyone on the team.

Regardless, Quinn and Jas start their own team with a bunch of misfits and they get to the qualifiers to only get through due a technicality. It sounds like Pitch Perfect but with dance, right?

Well, it sort of is.

In the end, the team gets its choreographer it needs. There’s a moment where the team looks like it’s going to break up, but it gets back together, performs, and wins the competition. The competition-winning team scores a 9 and the underdogs (who keep the name “TBDs”) score a 9.3.

There is a flaw with the story, though. At the end, Quinn mentions that the rules state those who have already graduated can’t take part in the team on the stage. Their choreography, Jake, took part in the dance competition. The whole team should have been disqualified, and I’m really surprised “Julliard” didn’t tell someone at the competition that the TBDs had cheated.

Does Quinn get into Duke?

The whole reason Quinn needed to win the Work It competition was to get into Duke University. Would she get in?

Partway through Work It, the admissions woman at Duke was fired from her job. Quinn didn’t even seem to get in touch with her replacement. It’s unclear whether Quinn got into her dream college.

Instead, the previous admissions woman was at the Work It competition and saw the performance. She now had a job at NYU and gave Quinn her card.

By the end, Quinn hadn’t decided on a college. It was all about the competition. Maybe there’ll be a Work It sequel that covers that topic.
