Peter Kay writes new Car Share sketch for a special tribute
Peter Kay is back! The beloved British comedian is celebrating the United Kingdom National Health Service in a creative way by creating a new Car Share sketch for a recently released book.
Fans of the 47-year-old star will know that he started off his impressive career back in the 1990s, which led to him co-writing and starring in his own show, That Peter Kay Thing, on Channel 4. The comedic series spawned several spinoffs, as well as new writing opportunities for England native.
Fast forward to 2015, and Peter had another project titled Peter Kay’s Car Share. The acclaimed show ran for just two years, but fans are still obsessed with the timeless comedy he and co-star Sian Gibson created. Car Share lovers have been asking for more content for years, and it looks like they’ve officially been blessed!
As reported by the Mirror, Peter’s new Car Share sketch is included in a book titled Dear NHS: 100 Stories To Say Thank You. The book includes 100 different stories from celebrities, recalling times when the NHS had saved their lives.
Car Share gets thrown into the mix through Peter’s part in the book, telling a fictional story of when character John Redmond (Peter Kay) tells Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) of the time he had to get a brain cancer scan. Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with John, but he recalled the terrifying experience and how healthcare workers helped him.
Though it’s a sensitive topic, Peter still keeps his signature humor!
