Pure is on the brink of making its American TV debut and so far, the breakout British series looks like its going to be truly hilarious, totally binge-worthy, and painstakingly honest (but in all the best ways.)
And here’s what we know about the upcoming show right now.
Pure release date
We’ll be able to start streaming the British series on Thursday, August 27 on HBO Max.
Pure synopsis
The plot for the HBO show is said to be based on real-life events from the book of the same name by author Rose Cartwright.
Through and through, it’s a tale as old as time in any form: One woman struggles to get comfortable in her own skin and inevitably embarks on a journey of self discovery. She begins uncontrollably picturing everyone else naked, and not always in a good way.
Or as HBO sums it up:
"For as long as she can remember, 24-year-old Marnie’s mind has been flooded with uncontrollable X-rated thoughts, and she’s too ashamed to tell anyone. At her breaking point and stifled by her tiny Scottish hometown, Marnie impulsively hightails it to London. In the big city, Marnie finds a gang of new friends, all with their own foibles, who lead her to an unexpected diagnosis."
Pure cast
Starring Charly Clive as Marnie, the series also features Kiran Sonia Sawar, Anthony Welsh, Joe Cole, Niamh Algar, Jing Lusi, Jacob Collins Levi, Tori Allen-Martin, and Doon Mackichan, to name a few.
