When could New Amsterdam Season 3 realistically premiere?

Usually, by this point in the year, we know when our favorite TV shows are returning. This is not a usual year, though. All we can do is speculate on when New Amsterdam Season 3 will premiere.

NBC announced the usual suspects in the fall, with the hope that filming would resume over the summer. That hasn’t happened, and now premiere dates are going to have to be pushed later into the fall.

Update: Shortly after publishing this, NBC announced that New Amsterdam Season 3 would be pushed to 2021.

New York has been terribly hit by the coronavirus. However, filming is allowed again, so many shows are getting ready to return to filming. Most fall shows are looking at a late September or early October return date. We can probably expect the same for New Amsterdam.

Of course, the safety of the cast and crew is the biggest concern. New safety protocols will be in place, especially considering some of them were infected with the virus before filming abruptly stopped back in March 2020.

When can we expect New Amsterdam Season 3 to air?

It leaves the question of when the show will premiere on NBC. There are no dates given yet, but many fall shows are looking to return in November 2020. This is something CBS is expecting, according to its recent premiere date announcement.

This makes sense when you look at the timeline for filming. Shows usually return to filming in July with a September premiere date. To return to filming in September, it means the premiere date will need to be pushed by two months to November.

Of course, there’s no guarantee filming will happen in September. There’s also no guarantee that it won’t be shut down abruptly again. But right now, we can anticipate November 2020 as a premiere month for New Amsterdam Season 3 at the very earliest.
