Favorite moments from Gilmore Girls: 6-10

6. Season 1, Episode 10, “Forgiveness and Stuff”

Richard Gilmore (Lorelai’s father) is rushed to the hospital after collapsing to a heart attack at Christmas dinner. Rory calls her Mum who was not invited to Christmas dinner because she and Emily were fighting and Emily told her not to come.

Lorelai is at Luke’s diner, eating Christmas dinner alone and about to eat the Santa burger that Luke made especially for her. She checks her mobile phone and Luke tells her he will close the diner early and will drive her to the hospital.  In the hospital, Emily has a meltdown because she is worried she is going to lose her husband.

When she gets a moment alone with Richard in his room, she says “no! Richard Gilmore, there may be many things happening in this hospital, but you dying is not one of them” and then she demands to go first. This is a rare soft moment from Emily who always shows a tough exterior.

7. Season 6, Episode 9, “The Prodigal Daughter Returns”

Our loveable mother and daughter duo Lorelai and Rory were fighting for months after Rory left Yale and stopped journalism. Rory moved in with her grandparents and Lorelai is left sad and betrayed. So, when Rory and Lorelai reunite in this episode after Rory calls Lorelai to tell her that she is returning to Yale and is driving on her way home.

The moment is a warm and touching moment shared between mother and daughter. It is one of my all-time favorite Gilmore Girls moments. One of those feel-good TV moments.

8. Season 1, Episode 7, “Kiss And Tell”

Rory goes to Doose’s market to pick up a few groceries and to see Dean, a boy she likes. What she does not expect is Dean finds her and she gets so nervous and clumsy. Importantly, Rory experiences her first kiss with Dean (who becomes her first steady boyfriend) inside Doose’s market and she gets freaked out after the kiss that she ends up running out with the cornstarch and forgets to buy it. It is an adorable moment for innocent and good girl Rory.

9. Season 5, Episode 3, “Written In The Stars”

The moment in this episode that was amazingly beautiful was when Luke and Lorelai go out on their first official dinner date as a couple to a restaurant. Luke says at dinner to Lorelai, “Lorelai, this thing we’re doing here, me, you – I just want you to know I’m in. I am all in.”

He also shows her the horoscope that she gave him when they first met at the diner eight years ago, as it said “one day it would bring me luck.” It is a moment that fans of the series have been yearning for and when it happened it was pure magic.

10. Season 7, Episode 20, “I Will Always Love You”

Lorelai sings “I will always love you” by Dolly Parton at Karaoke night. It was a lovely drunken rendition of the song and it was amazing when she was singing in the middle Luke walks in and they both glance at each other sadly. The song becomes a sad tribute to their sad romance. No one warned me that I needed tissues when watching this scene, so if you watch this scene for the first time remember to have tissues nearby.
