The 100 is quickly coming to an end, as the CW series is sadly releasing its final episode on September 30. After seven seasons, the beloved sci-fi show is saying goodbye, but thankfully for Netflix users, you’ll be able to binge it anytime you want (the first six seasons as of now, at least).

Generations after an apocalypse, the characters in The 100 are forced to return to Earth after the space station in which they had been living becomes too full in capacity. This group of one hundred young criminals must determine whether or not the planet is safe to live on again.

The series stars Eliza Taylor as Clarke Griffin, Marie Avgeropoulos as Octavia Blake, and Bob Morley as Bellamy Blake, among a handful of other talented actors.

Is The 100 okay for kids to watch?

If you’re not completely familiar with The 100 and the children in your life are interested in catching up on the show, you might want to know its age rating. According to IMDb, the sci-fi show is rated TV-14. It airs on The CW at a normal time slot, so that means there’s no nudity or R-rated profanity.

However, IMDb users note that The 100 contains a moderate amount of violence and gore, including, “decapitation, dismemberment, an eye gouging, gory heart surgery, beatings and wrist slitting.” There are also torture scenes. Additionally, underage sex is implied.

As for drinking and drugs, characters do consume alcohol occasionally.

It would seem that the series is definitely appropriate for teenagers and above ages. Many preteens would probably be mature enough to tune in, however it’s at the discretion of the child’s parent or guardian to decide.
