Do Sonny and Davis have complications ahead on SEAL Team?

SEAL Team is tentatively set to return in November 2020. When we last saw Ensign Lisa Davis at the end of the third season of the CBS military drama, SEAL Team, she was semi-dating Reiss Julian, making an attempt to move on from the relationship she had with Sonny.

However, an ongoing romance with Davis and Julian would prove challenging, considering Team Bravo’s deployment is almost over. Even showrunner Spencer Hudnut acknowledges that the two don’t exactly orbit the same part of the world.

"Given the nature of Reiss’ job and Davis’ job” — including the fact that Bravo Team’s deployment is nearly over — “it’s going to be a challenge for them to stay in each other’s orbits."

This comes as a relief to Sonny and Davis fans who have been disappointed since the two went their separate ways earlier in Season 3. While Sonny had a brief reconnection with an old flame when he was sent to J-BAD in Texas, Davis started sharing coffee and conversation with Julian, although, the connection is lukewarm at best. And getting over Sonny isn’t so easy, especially now that they’ll be working closely together again.

"Sonny’s return obviously will complicate matters for Davis, too."

But will Sonny and Davis reunite on SEAL Team?

When A.J. Buckley, who portrays Sonny, was asked basically the same question about the onscreen relationship, he danced around the issue.

"There’s going to be some tension. And there’s going to be a little triangle. There’s always the “Savis” love, as they call it. The question is, does time away make the heart grow fonder? Or does it allow people to grow and heal and find new love?"

The triangle Buckley mentions could involve Hannah, his old flame, as the couple’s reconnection may be the beginning of something more. It’s possible that the pair could have sown seeds that will extend into season 4.

"They both sort of found each other at the right time in their lives again, and they plant a lot of seed, so to speak, for this to turn into a much bigger thing."

It’s doubtful that fans will be happy over a potential long-term love interest for Sonny that isn’t Davis, especially when there was such a build-up to the pair’s relationship for the first two seasons. And it’s abundantly clear that the tension between Sonny and Davis won’t make things easier for either of them in the fourth season.
