The Good Doctor Season 4 has a premiere date. We also know a little about what to expect. It’s time to break it all down to get ready.
Filming for The Good Doctor Season 4 started at the beginning of September. The show films in Vancouver, Canada, so all those working on the show who crossed the border had to quarantine for 14 days. With filming underway, it’s been possible for ABC to set a premiere date.
Let’s look at everything we know about the fourth season of the ABC medical drama so far.
The Good Doctor Season 4 release date
Let’s start with the premiere date. The Good Doctor Season 4 premiere will air on Monday, Nov. 2 at 10/9c. It’s the first of the ABC scripted dramas to return, which makes sense since it was the first to return to filming.
The other scripted dramas are set to return the following week. ABC’s flagship series, Grey’s Anatomy, isn’t returning until Nov. 12.

There are a few changes to the cast for the fourth season. The Good Doctor Season 3 finale left us devastated learning that Dr. Neil Melendez had died, suffering from the injuries sustained in the events of the episode. We said a tearful goodbye to one of the strongest characters on the series.
Carter Matt reported that Jasika Nicole is leaving as a series regular. The end of the third season saw her character, Dr. Carly Lever and Freddie Highmore’s Dr. Shaun Murphy break up. However, there is a chance we’ll see her at some point of the season to say goodbye since it was noted she’s leaving as a series regular and not altogether just yet.
There are questions over Will Yun Lee on the series. Fans wonder whether Dr. Alex Park will be leaving the hospital, but showrunner David Shore doesn’t want to lose the character. Lee’s personal schedule is the question for the character right now.
Other than that, all other actors should return for The Good Doctor Season 4.

There isn’t a trailer out just yet. That likely won’t arrive until the middle of October to promote the return.

The Good Doctor Season 4 premiere will focus on the coronavirus pandemic. We’ll pick up in the middle of it, giving us a look at the events that have occurred in hospitals around the country.
It’s not the only medical drama to cover the pandemic. Grey’s Anatomy is also doing a storyline. New Amsterdam already filmed a superflu storyline but postponed the episode as it was due to air at the beginning of the pandemic. The Resident ended its third season with a highly contagious fungal infection storyline, which will come up in the fourth season.
There are questions over whether it’s too soon for a pandemic storyline when we’re still dealing with it. SEAL Team opted not to do a pandemic storyline to allow viewers to escape from the events of the real world.
