Everything we know about the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 release date

The Nine Nine will return in 2021. It’s time to get together everything we know about the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 release date, cast, and more.

This was one of the NBC shows originally planned for the fall. Plans changed with the pandemic, and the show has been pushed to 2021. However, the plans changed for some good reasons, which we’ll most certainly get into.

Here’s what we know about Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 so far.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 release date

We don’t have a definite release date just yet. As Digital Spy reminds us, the series was originally intended for the fall, but the plans have changed.

More from NBC

Earlier this month, NBC announced premiere dates for some of its scripted shows. They included SuperstoreThe Blacklist, the One Chicago shows, and more. What the list didn’t include was anything for Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8.

That doesn’t mean the series is canceled. Instead, the show has been pushed to the New Year, along with the likes of New Amsterdam and Manifest, due to filming reasons.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 cast

We’re expecting the entire main cast to return. Nothing has been said about anyone leaving. This means we’ll have:

  • Andy Samberg as Jake Perala
  • Melissa Fumero as Amy Santiago
  • Terry Crews as Terry Jeffords
  • Stephanie Beatriz as Rosa Diaz
  • Joe Lo Truglio as Charles Doyle
  • Andrew Braugher as Captain Holt
  • Dirk Blocker as Hitchcock
  • Joel McKinnon Miller as Scully

There will likely be some appearances from the various guest stars over the years. There’s usually a Pontiac Bandit and a Kevin episode. We will also hopefully get a Gina episode, which was missing during the seventh season due to the shorter season.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 trailer

There isn’t a trailer yet. We’ll bring one as soon as NBC releases it. The trailers don’t usually happen until much closer to the seasons premiering, so we’re expecting one late December or early January.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 synopsis

There’s a major reason this season is delayed. The show has gone through substantial rewrites due to the Black Lives Matter movement. Despite having four episodes ready to go, the writers ripped up the scripts and started again to make sure there was some necessary focus on police brutality and systemic racism.

This isn’t the first time the show will have focused on this. There’s an important episode that focuses on Terry being a victim of systemic racism.

We should also expect development from a couple of story threads in the seventh season. The biggest is Jake and Amy as parents. However, the writers are aware that this is a workplace show, so the baby will only be used when necessary like with other side characters outside the precinct.

What we will get to see is Amy remaining in work. We’ll see the balance of Jake and Amy as working parents, which is something many of us have to deal with.
