Transplant has quickly picked up the pace. Bash is balancing his life back in Syria with his new life in Canada. That continues during Transplant Season 1, Episode 5, and here’s all you need to watch the episode live.

This week will focus on Eid. Amira wants to celebrate in the way they did in the past. She may have been young when she lived in Syria, but she’s heard the stories. There are so many memories of people she once new, and she just wishes that they could all be with her to celebrate now.

I love that Transplant focuses on Bash and Amira in this way. It’s easy to look at refugees in newspapers and not really put a story to them. They become statistics, but that’s not what they really are. They’re people who didn’t necessarily want to leave their homes; it was the only safe option for their lives. However, there are a lot of wishes and regrets in the past.

While Amira wants to do things like the past, Bash is trying to balance so much. At the same time, he’s trying to prevent his friend from being caught by the police. His friend isn’t Syrian, so doesn’t qualify for refugee status and he will be deported. Bash doesn’t want that for him, but this could put his own career and future on the line.

Theo gets a difficult case

Meanwhile, Theo has a difficult situation of his own. This time it’s all about a patient, rather than the situation with his daughter’s school. His patient doesn’t want to tell his parents why he’s in the hospital, and Theo is shocked at the reason why.

This is a case that touches on current-day social issues. It’s one that a few other medical shows have briefly touched on, but not quite in this way.
