DWTS: Anne Heche, Justina Machado call out Fox and TV execs for homophobia and more
By Sandy C.
Week 4 of DWTS season 29 was about more than just dancing, Anne Heche and Justina Machado are calling out Hollywood
DWTS Week 4 was all about the tea as two celebrities spilled some disturbing details about Fox and TV executives from Anne Heche and Justina Machado!
Now, we’re not truly shocked about learning there are issues behind-the-scenes of Hollywood, but details about it never fail to disappoint me.
Each week, the couples on Dancing with the Stars keep improving! It’s going to continue getting tougher and tougher deciding who will be on the bottom 5. Week 4 of Dancing with the Stars season 29, however, was also all about the tea!
Anne Heche and Justina Machado, in particular, called out Fox and other TV execs.
Anne Heche is calling out homophobia on Fox
While chatting with her trainer Keo, Anne recalled losing jobs over her relationship with Ellen Degeneres in 1997. She shared how much Ellen means to her, despite Fox dropping Anne out of a contract.
People tried to get a comment from Fox about it, but no luck so far! Here’s hoping they give us an explanation, and an apology to Anne Heche, soon. Even though this may have improved since then, there is still a long way to go.
Justina Machado calls out the lack of diversity
There aren’t many shows that follow Latino families, and it’s 2020. Justina Machado has been trying to change this for years. In fact, she shared an upsetting phone call from a TV executive (who was not named).
As Los Angeles Times recalls, Justina says the executive commented how much he loved Justina’s pilot, but stated that “we don’t think America is ready for a Latino family.” Yikes!
Again, there is more diversity on the small and big screen these days, but not nearly enough.
Anne Heche and Justina Machado, we applaud your work and all you’ve done! Keep spilling the tea, everybody!
